Wolf Line Art With Colour

"The Traitor" (1911) By Urban Gad

Yvonne Frau (Frau Asta Nielsen), daughter of a rich and noble French family, falls in love with a young Prussian Lieutenant ( Herr Robert Valberg ); this proves to be a tormented and complicated relationship due to the sense of duty of the Prussian Lieutenant and the whimsical imprudence of the young bourgeois.

Danish film director Herr Urban Gad and Danish silent star Frau Asta Nielsen were husband and wife and worked together in many films during the 10s of the last century; unfortunately when WWI ended so did their marriage but their respective careers continued to thrive.

During their harmonized careers both worked together in many notable early German films; “Die Verräterin“ ( The Traitress ) has many characteristics of the Gad-Nielsen collaborations , particularly in the presence of a strong female lead.

In his German films, Herr Gad built the dramatic intensity of the story until it reached a crescendo and a powerful closing act was characteristic of his style. Although this may not seem noteworthy to modernen eyes one should remember that at this point in time (1911) films were often no more than simple “vignettes”, static and lacking in pace and with very unimaginative cinematography. And Herr Graf also wishes to say that female characters in the early 10s films were often minor or unimportant but Frau Nielsen, from the very start of her career, played independent and strong willed women.

“Die Verräterin” is a good example of a typical Frau Nielsen role; She is a frivolous bourgeois fräulein with an overbearing personality who can’t understand why the young Prussian lieutenant puts duty before passion. Ultimately, she will even flirt with the partisans ( the historical background is the 1870-71 German-French war ) and ends up betraying her lover with terrible and tragic results. Frau Nielsen’s performance captures the contradictions, whims and the love and hate duality of her character and is perfectly matched by Herr Urban’s dramatic construction of the story in which patriotism trumps love and has the final word.

And now, if you'll allow me, I must temporarily take my leave because this German Count must betray his own aristocratic convictions.

Yvonne Frau (Frau Asta Nielsen) is the daughter of a rich and noble family Frenchified which has fallen in love all over a handsome young Prussian lieutenant (Herr Robert Valberg), is it all a complicated relationship because of the large sense of duty of the Prussian lieutenant and the whims and recklessness of the young bourgeoisie.

Herr Danish director Urban Gad together with the Danish actress Asta Nielsen Frau formed a marriage particular artistic and personal level, working both in numerous films during the first decade of last century, unfortunately the end of World War I, also marked the end of her marriage, but their careers continue over the years achieved many successes both, and became the two great and essential reference silent film world.

During his career together, they both worked in numerous outstanding Germanic silent productions, with "Die Verräterin" a good example of that era, the film having many characteristics of those works which helped Gad and Frau Herr Nielsen, may be the presence in those films with a powerful female character. During his time

Germanic Gad built Herr films in which the dramatic intensity and narrative of these films was "in crescendo", besides having the final the same, a dramatic final act. Perhaps today
these pioneering works eyed modernist view, its merits might otherwise go unnoticed, making it very convenient to remember that this is a film made in 1911 and numerous movies of the time were limited to mere illustrative vignettes, static and film lacked pace and imagination, and we must also stress that during that same period, the female roles were mostly minor or unimportant, nothing to do with the independent and powerful female characters featuring Frau Nielsen during those same years.

"Die Verräterin is a good example of such dramatic roles starring Frau Nielsen gave much fame, to play a frivolous Fraulein haughty bourgeois personality, which does not realize that her handsome young lieutenant precede Prussian military sense of duty rather than encouraging the passion between them, getting to that attitude that finally Frau Yvonne flirt with his fellow partisans (the film is inspired by the Franco-Prussian War occurred during the years 1870-71), betrayed and her lover, thus securing a terrible and tragic final end to this turbulent relationship. Frau
Nielsen's interpretation conveys emotional contradictions in which his character has sunk, his whims and the duality of feelings, a whole fatal love-hate relationship, noting also the perfect direction of Herr Urban Gad and dramatic structure peculiar history, where patriotism and sense of duty comes before love, managing to have the last word

And now, if I may, I have to leave because this count Germanic must betray his own convictions and aristocratic.

Today marks a great day at the Schloss!.

Aristocrats do not need, as usual, have an excuse to celebrate, at the first chance, a decadent, aristocratic soiree at the Schloss, but finally is that there is any, for the better.

Ah, mein liebers! ... Today we celebrate the fact already been five years since the silent theater opened Schloss, both the public and for the plebeian aristocracy, a small time interval it, certainly, in which nearly 300 films, and other aristocratic affairs have been discussed by Herr Von.

Given that silent films are about a century ago, the number of visitors daily silent Herr Graf are not particularly spectacular (on some 74,000), a smaller but equally loyal community of silent enthusiasts who enjoy greatly delighted to discover and contemplate produces those wonderful films directed by pioneering and daring grandparents.

For that matter, the Herr Graf wants to thank all those visitors, which on a daily or occasionally and from any remote location of the silent world, take their seats and use the time to read the treatises of Herr Von silent, giving reason to this day to be silent, which is why it was created, to share with everyone in the world (aristocrats and commoners), the fascination that still causes today consider any of those wonderful silent films. Konus Rifle Scopes Any Good

"The toy of Paris" ( 19 259 By Mihali Kertész

After Being an unknown singer in a Montmartre night club, Frau Célimène ( Frau Lili Damita ) is discovered by the Viscount de Maudry ( Herr Georges Tréville ) and the beautiful music-hall dancer becomes the new Paris sensation at the noble establishment " Nouvel Eden ". She is drawn to the Viscount who is an old man but who is, after all, the one responsible for discovering her. However, she also has another suitor in the good-looking young diplomat, Herr Miles Seward ( Herr Eric Barclay ), although he is already engaged to a bourgeoisie fräulein. Célimène flirts with both men constantly but finally makes up her mind, leaving her successful artistic career behind and going with the diplomat to Brittany to a lonely fishing village, a drastic and boring change for Célimène who very soon will yearn for her former fame and the lights of Paris.

Herr Miháli Kertész was a Hungarian film director who became very well-known in the talkie film world as Herr Michael Curtiz, an irrelevant fact for this German count who prefers to talk about older and silent times but such information will keep the longhaired new generation interested and educate them about those important directors who had a silent past. Herr Kertész worked in Hungary, Austria and Germany before going to America. “Das Spielzeug von Paris” (1925) is a film that belongs to his Austrian period.

In the film can be seen and appreciated a careful concern for detail and the remarkable art direction that was a trademark during Herr Kertész silent period. This is obvious in every scene of the film, from the Montmartre den of iniquity to the splendorous “Nouvel Eden” theatre, a crowded place where “le Tout Paris” is enjoying spectacular revues. And we must not forget the lavish mansions and luxurious wardrobe, especially Frau Célimène’s fashionable outfits. All these elements give the film the air of decadence necessary for a story about a mad and impossible love, an “amour fou” as a Frenchman said.

This sentimental “ménage à trois” in the film is further complicated by the other characters: Herr Seward’s fiancée, his sister and mother-in-law and Herr Viscount de Maudry’s mistress. The core of the story of course is the tormented relationship between Célimène and Miles, and though this is a familiar situation and a “classic silent one” this tale of doomed love builds in intensity and works perfectly in artistic and dramatic terms. However, at the end of the film, Herr Kertész puts forth a realistic and bitter conclusion: Célimène and Miles accept and realize the fact that their love is impossible and they must bow to the conventional and hypocritical unwritten rules of the society and circle they are part of.

Dame Lili Damita is the star of the film, wearing spectacular and lavish Parisian costumes throughout, except in Brittany obviously. She dances and allows herself be adored by her admirers, a classic silent diva but the exaggeration doesn’t matter because “Das Spielzeug von Paris” is overall a fantasy, a big show ( complete with musical numbers ). By Austrian film production standards, it’s sumptuous as well as being decadent even though it has the atmosphere of a modern operetta and is less bold and cynical that one would like.

And now, if you'll allow me, I must temporarily take my leave because this German Count has an appointment with a “Nouvel Eden” chorus girl.

Después de llevar una carrera como desconocida cantante en un club nocturno en Montmartre, Frau Célimène ( Frau Lili Damita ) is discovered by the Vicomte de Maudry (Herr Georges Treville), becoming the new sensation of the prestigious Parisian theater "Nouvel Eden" as his new and beautiful dancer. Célimène
is attracted by the Viscount, an elderly man and to which it owes its discovery and fame, but also has another suitor the above much younger and handsome, also a diplomat, Herr Miles Seward (Herr Eric Barclay) although the latter has committed to a bourgeois fräulien. Célimène
flirts with the two men alike, finally deciding on the young diplomat, leaving behind his successful career going with the above to a remote seaside village in Brittany, a drastic change for Célimène boring, which will soon be pining for the fame and the night lights of Paris. Herr

Mihali Kertész was a Hungarian director who is well known in the circles of talkies as Herr Michael Curtiz, a fact irrelevant to this latter count Germanic Herr Von preferring to talk about old times and silent, that this information all those hairy young modernists interested in the subject, we hope will be of benefit and well aware of the past silent about certain important directors film. Herr
Kertész his career in Hungary, Austria and Germany before leaving for the Americas, the film belong to us today, "Das Spielzeug von Paris" (1925) to Austrian stage.

The film is there a special taste and attention to detail, exceptional art direction for which he was highly regarded and recognized Herr Kertész during silent era, as seen in numerous scenes of the film, from the antrum of destruction of Montmartre to the magnificent theater "Nouvel Eden", a crowded place where all of Paris enjoy sumptuous musical performances, not to mention of the great mansions and lavish costumes, especially the one that looks Frau Célimène, suits them to the latest Parisian fashion, elements that give the film some much needed air decadent for a story that describes an impossible love, a " amour fou "as say the French style.

This ménage à trios "sentimental is complicated even more by being involved other characters in it, from the Seward Herr fiancee, his sister and his future mother, the mistress of Viscount Maudry, secondary characters which affects the stormy relationship between Célimène and Miles and although at times the film gives the feeling be at an obvious and too classic tale of love and doom silent, it works perfectly in terms of dramatic and artistic, being much more able end of the film when Herr Kertész offers a realistic and bitter conclusion to such a stormy relationship, when both Célimène and Miles realize and accept that their love is impossible and must accept certain unwritten rules and conventions of the circle and the society of which they form part. Lili Damita

Dame is the star of the film, wrapped it in spectacular and evocative Parisian clothes (except Brittany, obviously ...), dancing and let his fans admire, a character who happens to be the paradigm of silent diva but such overstatement does not matter too much in a film like this, for "Das Spielzeug von Paris" is primarily a musical fantasy, a great show on Austrian parameters, a sumptuous and decadent movie an air of modern operetta, although grateful, certainly more daring and cynicism on it to get a more rounded film.

And now, if I may, I have to leave because this aristocrat has a date with a chorus of "Nouvel Eden."

"Le Mariage Force" (1913) By Max Linder

It is always a pleasure-and one that both aristocrats and commoners can share- to watch any of Herr Max Linder's short silent comedies, films so brief you don’t have to leave your post or interrupt your duties ( not a problem for aristocrats who, of course have no duties ).

And certainly it is a joy watching Herr Max Linder handling many problems in “Le Mariage Forcé” (1913), after being told by his uncle he must marry or face having his income cut off. Unfortunately, the frauleins suggested by Herr Max’s uncle reject him so, in order not to lose his allowance, Max disguises one of his male servants in feminine garb and announces he has found his beloved ( servants can sometimes be very dutiful ). However, complications arise when Herr Max’s uncle promises him an extra 200,000 francs when his bride gives birth to their first child, a heavy task for even a faithful servant to accomplish.

“Le Mariage Forcé” spoofs the French bourgeoisie of the early 10s, especially during the wedding scene wherein the guests arrive at the city hall in elegant and fashionable barouches, carriages that will be involved later in a peculiar fast motion chase around the city ( more elegant, certainly, than the usual American car city chases of the same era ). Of course, Herr Max’s uncle uncovers his scheme and Max flees, pursued by the wedding guests but he finally overcomes them with the help of a hose, an efficient and hilarious comic resource as Herr Louis Lumière knew pretty well in those early silent days.

“Le Mariage Forcé” is an excellent Herr Linder short comedy that after almost 100 years later still retains its merits and is a showcase for the mastery of Herr Linder whose work has stood the test of time.

And now, if you'll allow me, I must temporarily take my leave because this German Count must flee from a Teutonic heiress’ marriage proposal.

Supone siempre un gran placer ( placer, al alcance tanto de la aristocracia como de la plebe ) el contemplar cualquier obra Herr comic Max Linder films most short-lived and for which you will not have the need to postpone or interrupt their duties to see them, nothing to do with the aristocracy, as the latter naturally have no obligation to attend ...

And certainly it be fun to see how Herr Max is solving the problems that arise in "Le Mariage Force" (1913), after his uncle practically forces you to marry or otherwise will not happen any money more, unfortunately, frauleins Max's uncle suggests to it, reject it, so and not lose their pay, wedding dress choose one of their servants, being presented the transvestite servant Max's uncle as the Fraulein in which you want to wed (sometimes the servants can be really useful.)
However, more complications arise when Max's uncle promised an extra payment of 200,000 francs after the wedding to give birth to her first child, a mission quite hard to get by a lot of effort to put the servant in question ...

"Le Mariage Force takes advantage and derision of the French bourgeoisie in the first decade of the last century, in scenes like the one that runs for Herr Max's wedding where guests arrive at the town hall in stylish carriages and wearing the latest Paris trends, carriages later they will be involved in a particular fast motion chase through the city and that is much more elegant than those ordinary American car chases in the same silent era.
As expected, the uncle of Herr Max finally discover the farce, seeing the need to escape while being chased by a large part of the wedding guests, to finally get rid of them with the help of a hose, a resource efficient and hilarious comedy as he by then knew Herr Louis Lumière.

"Le Mariage Force" is one of These excellent short comedies Herr Linder and after nearly 100 years after its completion, has stood the passing of the years, keeping intact its merits and comic resources, all thanks to the skill of Herr Linder, natürlich!.

And now, if I may, I have to leave because this aristocrat had to flee after the marriage proposal that has made him one of his heiresses.

Women Prfer Men Shaved Genitals?

"The Great Leap" (1927) By Arnold Fanck

Gita Frau (Frau Leni Riefenstahl) is a young and healthy Italian shepherdess fraulein that lives in the Alps. Besides caring for her little brothers and sisters, she has a goat called Pippa that she also cares for a lot. It is probably because of Pippa that she likes climbing mountains all day so very much. This hobby isn’t particularly shared with Herr Toni ( Herr Luis Trenker ) a friend who lives nearby and who prefers to wear typical shepherd’s customary garb ( hat with feather included ) instead of going up and down the Dolomites.
During an unexpected visit to the mountains by Herr Michel Treuherz ( Herr Hans Schneeberger ) – who is an idle, rich and clumsy Berliner – and his valet Herr Paule ( Herr Paul Graetz ), funny situations will happen all around.

“Der Grosse Sprung”, a film directed by Herr Arnold Fanck in the silent year of 1927, is a “mountain film” of that specific German film genre very popular during the 20’s in Deutschland. It’s a picture that contains all the typical and particular film resources that any “mountain film” must have. That is to say, it is a simple and schematic story full of topics in which nature and the beautiful mountain landscapes are the true main characters of the movie. (Let’s not forget also that in many “mountain films” there is a special place for winter sports. Snow skiing is especially included in many of those pictures complete with a thrilling downhill skiing competition at the end of the film.)

On behalf of the mountain film genre, it must be said that those pictures have excellent cinematography ( six cinematographers were needed in “Der Grosse Sprung”! ). This enhances and idealizes the landscapes where the story of the film is based ( aestheticism über alles! ). Memorable too is the skilful and creative editing involved in the inevitable “mountain film” skiing competition. So in “Der Grosse Sprung”, there is obviously one in the final part of the movie. It’s brilliantly developed, full of rhythm ( the camera filming almost from every impossible angle ) and complete with comic situations. Unfortunately, it is excessively long (which is an unfortunate lack in many “mountain films”).

Concerning the mountain films genre, it must be said that those pictures included a shameful collection of topics ... folkloric interests and stereotypes that many times make this Herr Von blush ( a terrible fact this indeed, such momentary aristocratic pallor ). It happens in “Der Grosse Sprung” that Frau Gita and Herr Toni wear picturesque clothes from an Italian catalogue resulting in somewhat less than impressive performances.

At this point this Herr Graf must give the credit to the characters of Herr Treuhez and his valet who are outstanding in the film and a notch above the others actors. The two characters give to the film hilarious scenes as the typical clumsy city ( and rich ) idle boy put into completely different surroundings and his valet, an efficient servant who will help his master as much as he can in spite of dangerous and freezing situations. It must be said that the fundamental principle of any “mountain film” is to entertain in a basic, even naïve way, paying more attention to the snow skiing action scenes and the outstanding landscapes while, not caring at all for a complicated plot. So, finally the artistic aim justifies the means.

Participating in “Der Grosse Sprung” were the mountain film classic triplet, Frau Leni Riefenstahl, Herr Arnold Fanck und Herr Luis Trenker. These were very important and strong personalities and that’s necessary in order to understand this German film genre. They coincided and collided many times DURING Their works together, Later to Develop Different artistic routes. Frau Leni Riefenstahl Became The Most important of the three and a controversial, tricky But at the Same time, key figure of German and world cinema history.

And now, if you'll allow me, I take my leave Must Temporarily Because this German Count must-ask for the doctor in order to heal broken bones after aristocratic FEW alpine skiing.

Herr Graf Ferdinand Von

Gita Frau (Frau Leni Riefenstahl) is quite a healthy Fraulein Italian pastor who lives in the Alps, in addition to caring for their little brothers and sisters, Gita also feels Frau special affection for one of his goats Pippa name, how long the strip to the mountain goat, Frau Gita especially likes climbing mountains all day, a hobby that is not overly fond Toni Herr (Herr Luis Trenker), friend of the above and instead prefer to carry the typical pastoral dress with a matching feathered hat, rather than spend all day up and down through the Dolomites.
During an unexpected visit to the place of Treuherz Michel Herr (Herr Hans Schneeberger), an idler, rich and Flounder Berlin and valet Paule Herr (Herr Paul Graetz), curious events come to pass in the surrounding mountains.

"Der Grosse Sprung," a film directed by Herr Arnold Fanck silent in the year 1927, is a mountain film, Germanic specific film genre was so popular during the 20's of last century in Germany.
The film has all the typical individual and cinematic resources that mountain every film should have, that is, a simple and schematic story full of clichés it where nature and the beautiful mountain scenery are the main protagonists of the film, not to mention that in many Germanic mountain films there is always a place for winter sports, especially skiing, including at the end of such an exciting competition films of the sport.

favor the genre of mountain film must be said that these works have an excellent picture (up to six different directors of photography were necessary in "Der Grosse Sprung"), a work that emphasizes and idealizes the landscapes in which the film takes (aestheticism über alles!), also highlighting the creative and skilled assembly work as needed for the action scenes on skis included in the genre, brilliantly resolute and full of rhythm (the camera films from almost any angle imaginable ), being complemented them with funny situations, but unfortunately these action scenes are often too long even to overshadow its technical achievements.

Against the mountain film genre should be noted that these works include collections embarrassing topics, local color and stereotypes that on numerous occasions Herr Von get it reaches even to blush (it made a terrible, indeed, that for a time is lost aristocratic pallor) as happens in "Der Grosse Sprung" in which Herr und Frau Herr Toni Gita exaggerated and colorful dress clothes taken from a catalog Italian game and they with their not very lucid interpretations. Want

Herr Graf noted in this regard, the characters Treuherz Herr and his valet, who stand out especially in "Der Grosse Sprung" their respective actors still well above the others, two characters that give the film hilarious thanks the lazy, stupid and rich city girl who is in a scenario very different from his usual, and his servant, an efficient servant who helps his master in everything possible, even if it means having to deal with dangerous ice situations.
also mention that the fundamental principle of any mountain film is to entertain, in a simple and even naive, certainly putting more attention to the action scenes on skis and the breathtaking landscapes of the film, apart from stories that are too complicated and art is that the end justifies the means in any film that boasts mountain.

A classic triplet of mountain films, participated in "Der Grosse Sprung" Frau Leni Riefenstahl und Herr Herr Arnold Fanck Luis Trenker, important and strong personalities essential to understand the genre Germanic, figures that on numerous occasions they worked and clashed with each other and then transits through different artistic paths, being the most Frau Leni Riefenstahl important of the three, a controversial, but at the same time cheater key figure in the Teutonic cinema and the history of cinema.

And now, if I may, I have to leave because this count Germanic has to call the doctor to heal some broken bones after aristocratic skied in the Alps.

"Chicago" (1927) By Frank Urson

Chicago in the mid 20's of the last century.

Amerikan In this modern city lies the Hart's, a young married couple, Who adapts to the spirit of the big city. Herr Amos Hart works in a tobacco store and Frau Roxie Hart does absolute nothing but to be unfaithful to her husband with an old man. The old-timer accommodates her whims although this is coming nearly to an end. So when Frau Roxie hears this news; she, who is a bad, bad girl ( besides a peroxide blonde with no brains ... excuse this Herr Graf for such obvious remark ) kills her lover in her apartment.

Desperate over what she has done, she calls for help to her husband telling him that the old man tried to get advantage of her. Herr Hart who is a good man but not stupid at all, discovers what really happened in there. But his love for Roxie is so important to him that he decides to help her by taking the services of a famous, greedy and unscrupulous advocate ( excuse again this Herr Graf for such an obvious remark ); this in order to defend his wife from the death penalty. However, such favour has an expensive price – 5.000 grand that obviously Herr Hart doesn’t have.

During a visit to his greedy advocate, he finds out where he hides a lot of money in his bureau and during the night steals the money ( an honourable deed indeed, to rob an advocate ). Meanwhile Frau Roxie Hart’s famous trial is nearly begun.

“Chicago”, a film directed by Herr Frank Urson in the silent year of 1927, was based in a Broadway play which in turn was based on a true story ( occurring in a real city! ).
Reminiscences of the original stage play in its primal concept can be seen in the film, when the director uses a few sets ( the Hart’s apartment, the jail or the trial court ) in order to develop the story as it were different acts of a play. This is especially during the first part of the film during the dramatic development at the Hart’s apartment and at the end of the movie during the trial. However, Herr Urson makes fairly good use of the proper characteristics of the cinema film narrative in “Chicago” by, constructing excellent visual metaphors ( the jury’s feet responding Frau Roxie charms, the tabloid paper going down the gutter ). There are also important and sibylline sexual remarks that are present during the whole film (ah, that garter bell belt). And let’s not forget the social realism that can be seen in the film ( Chicago daily life or the Hart’s apartment ). Especially outstanding is the power of the yellow press in those old days ( and unfortunately in these modern days too ); the sensationalist journals build up stories on innocent celebrities that certainly have few merits. Naturally this happened with the madcap Roxie, a situation depicted in “Chicago” in a raw and effective way.

Another merit of “Chicago” is the combination of comedy and drama in equal terms highlighting Frau Roxie’s stupidity, selfishness and easy living in contrast with her self-sacrificing husband who suffers the acts and nonsense of his wife. He’s a man who honestly cares about and loves his wife enough to steal and lie for her although this affection and emotion is not returned.

Starring as the couple are two excellent and not well-known actors who handle their roles considerably well. Herr Victor Varconi as Herr Amos Hart is the lovingly and humiliated husband. Frau Phyllis Haver shines and takes all the credit in the picture thanks to her brilliant performance as Roxie Hart, a madcap, simple and selfish modern girl who has no scruples combined with no brains ... who will have a moment of glory as a famous killer thanks to the help of the yellow press ... who will meet her end on the end of a rope … a woman who lives her own life caring for no one except the money.

“Chicago” is an excellent silent movie For All Those Reasons Mentioned Above by this German count. Do not forget Also recently added a modern one featuring a superb musical score compiled by Rodney Sauer and Herr "The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra. They capture the spirit and mood of the roaring twenties of the last century.

And now, if you'll allow me, I take my leave Must Temporarily Because this German Count must-to return to the Schloss from the Windy City.

Chicago during the 20 (the last century, natürlich!).

In this modern American city are the Hart, a young couple living in the spirit of this great city Herr Amos Hart works in a tobacco and Frau Roxie is dedicated to doing nothing except being unfaithful to her husband with a man much older than himself, the lover of the above will meet your every whim while this ratio is about finished, so when Frau Roxie learns this question, it being a girl sooo bad, besides being a bottle blonde pretty stupid (forgive you this Herr Graf by such obvious) kills her lover in the apartment of this .

Desperate to see what he has done, turns to her husband saying that the old man had tried to take advantage of it, Herr Hart is a good man but for anything stupid, then discover what really happened in the apartment, but his love for Roxie is so great that despite all decide to help his wife by hiring a famous, unscrupulous and greedy lawyer (forgive you again for this Herr Graf another obvious) to defend his wife from the death penalty, although their services have a higher price, $ 5,000 Herr Hart obviously does not.

During a visit to the home of the greedy lawyer, Herr Hart discover where he hides in his office a lot of money and taking advantage of the night, decides to steal (steal from a lawyer, certainly honorable act on his part ...) Meanwhile, the media trial of Roxie's Frau about to begin.

"Chicago", a film directed by Herr Frank Urson silent in the year 1927, is based on a successful Broadway play which in turn was inspired by a real event, reminiscent of theater can be seen in the primitive conception of the film director to use the few scenarios (the apartment of the Hart, jail or courtroom) to be developed over the events that are happening in the film, as if they were these same acts of a play, especially during the first part of film in the apartment of the young couple and the end of it during the trial of Roxie Frau. Urson
But Frank also makes good use of the features more characteristic of narrative language film "Chicago", building excellent visual metaphors (the plane of the feet of the jury react to the charms of Frau Roxie or tabloid swallowed by a sewer), as well as can be seen in the film major and cryptic sexual references that are present throughout the play (ah, the league featherbrained!) not to mention the social realism as it is reflected in the life of marriage, their apartment and the daily life of the big city particular emphasis on the important role of the tabloid press during that time (the same that is taking today, unfortunately ... ), Which devised tabloid stories featuring them on innocent celebrities with little merit, as it occurs to mindless Roxie, exposing raw and effective way to abuse this situation in the film.

Another great merit of "Chicago" is the combination of comedy and drama in a fair proportion, such as stupidity, selfishness and laziness of Frau Roxie in contrast to the devotion of her husband who suffers from the follies of his acts and wife, a man who loves his wife does not care to steal or lie for her, although this is not at all in return.

starred in two excellent actors too known and since then interpret their characters superbly, Herr Herr Victor Varconi as Amos Hart, husband and lover and humiliated Pyllis Frau Haver, that stands out and shines in "Chicago" as the wacky, simple and modern selfish young girl without unscrupulous and equally mindless, which will have a fleeting moment of glory as a famous assassin with the help of the tabloids, not knowing that this situation could bring to the gallows, a woman who lives her life without worrying about anything or anyone except money.

"Chicago" is a great silent film for the reasons previously mentioned by Count Germanic, not to mention a new reason most modern and recently added to the film, as is the magnificent sound compilation by Rodney Herr Sauer and The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, which captures the spirit and atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties.
